Magic Terms

Elementalist: An Elementalist is a person whose magic deals with the elements: air, water, fire, nature, light, and darkness.

Effector: An Effector is a person whose magic deals with either affecting something in or about the user; or people, animals and objects around them. They are often sub-defined as Inner-Effectors (for example, shapeshifting or causing oneself to fly) and Outer-Effectors (for example, illusions or persuasion.)

Wells: A Well is a person who is both an Elementalist and an Effector, though they can also impart their magic into actions, objects and potions, other people, and spells, making them the most versatile of people, and highly valued as, as long as they do it correctly, they can do nearly anything; and due to their rarity they are often inaugurated into politics as their own role with their own offices. Being born a Well is often a guaranteed ticket through life with power, fame, and money.
However, a Well is only called such and given such lavish treatment if they're not criminals. Wells that have committed a crime or use their powers for evil are called Casts due to their status as outcasts from normal society and Well communities. They usually try to hide their power and status to avoid getting caught by the police. Crimes do not have to be magic-related to make a Well into a Cast.
Wells used to be called Witches, but that has long since become a derogatory term.

Souls: The source of willpower, memories, magic, personality, and emotions. Without a soul, a human would suffocate to death as they wouldn't even know or have the willpower to breathe. They wouldn't feel anything, or have memories. They would be a husk. Since every human has a soul, every human has magic unless that soul is damaged somehow. Souls take the form of a metaphysical sheet of stained glass, each color and shape unique. Those who share one or both of either tend to be predisposed to getting along, though are not necessarily soulmates in the typical romantic sense.
Souls cannot be destroyed by any means other than the following: Pine or Shard will it out of existence, Shard infects and reabsorbs the soul, or the soul is 'consumed' by one of Shard's minions. As souls are secretly part of Shard's heart, when they stop being souls they return to him.

Essentia: When a person has a very strong feeling around a place with many traces of a soul or souls, those pieces react to form an Essentia, a fully-fledged person, out of those wishes. They are invisible and intangible to the naked eye, but non-human entities such as animals, robots, or conjurations of magic can see and interact with them just fine. If a place is said to be haunted, there's most likely at least one Essentia there causing the "ghostly" phenomenon.
Some Essentia have enough power to really look and become almost entirely human and rejoin society with little to no hinderance.

General Terms

Layered Planes Theory (LPT): The theory that the planes Pine made are layered over-top of each other metaphysically, like paper, and that you could hypothetically 'tear' through one plane to get to the one below it. Nobody has been magically powerful enough to prove this theory, however. Philosophers and scientists still wish to get their hands on Pine's answer. In the LPT, the layers from top to bottom are: (Dreamland), The Garden, Velse, Pier, (The Mirror); with currently secret planes in parentheses.

Fresh Frost Academy for The Gifted (Fresh Frost): The Blue Kingdom's pinnacle school, renown throughout the Pier Plane. It's an invite-only boarding school with insane prestiege.
However, it is also incredibly expensive, with only the best of the best getting full-ride scholarships and all four sets of rigorous, yearly exams. Paid students, on the other hand, only need to take and pass one set of exams at the end of the year. Failure of these exams will immediately result in a 30-day organization of their departure home.
Fresh Frost serves all k-12 grades, with its uniform dictating which grade you're in.

Polyhedron: An espionage organization which collects info while moonlighting as a security company. Each member gets a number-based codename (Uni, Deca, Penta, ect) and is assigned jobs, from gathering information, to infiltration, to killing or kidnapping targets. It is a worldwide organization.

Equinox-Solstice Company (EquSol): A tech company specializing in the research of souls and creating robots for human use. It seems very neat and tidy on the outside, but it experiments on humans, most notably children, without consent. It is based in The Blue Kingdom.

Les Croix: A 'vigilante' gang in the Blue Kingdom. They own casinos and plenty of fronts for shadier things, but they're almost more effective than police when it comes to taking down other criminals and syndicates. However... Their methods are almost always lethal and occasionally misguided. There is almost always propaganda telling people who have been hurt and cast aside by society to join them for true justice: Les Croix of Worldly Vengeance. Join or Fall.

The Garden Realm (The Garden): Pine's home, and a separate plane. Occasionally, he takes incredibly troubled or pained humans there to help them recover from the woes of the world that they cannot handle, before putting them back when they're more ready to face their challenges.

The Mirror Realm (The Mirror): The plane that Shard created when he left Pine's side out of jealousy. Dark, cold, and populated only by him and his echo chamber of hatred for humans and Pine, Shard withers away here in pain and fury and sadness.

The Pier Plane (Pier): The world in which humans and animals live and propegate natively.

Velse: The afterlife for humans, and by extension, any being with a soul of its own. Originally souls were kept in a 'dormant' state not dissimilar to sleeping in The Garden, but with expansion of the human race, Pine dedicated a realm for them to live out an afterlife peacefully. It is managed by Evangeline, who settles disputes between souls and helps them come to terms with and adjust to being dead. Overall it is rather cushy and lavish. Unsurprising, given Pine's excessively and possibly detrimentally altruistic demeanor.

Dreamland:The 'original' world, which ended long before Pine and Shard came into existence and began creating. Pine and Shard found the remains of it as it was engulfed by ocean, and decided to base their creations off of that land, as it was the first thing they knew. They salvaged the human body of the god that made that world, not knowing that their true form was comatose just below the ground. They used that salvaged form as the basis for their own humans, though, with their own touch. The body now resides in Velse, asleep in a flower field.

The Sinful Ones: A group of 'devils' led by Pandora to seek out humans with overwhelming vices and sate their 'needs' in return for... Something much more than they bargained for. The seven devils of The Sinful Ones were pressured into 'pacts' with Pandora, giving them immortality but diluting their bloodline so that if they're killed by either themself or Pandora, any heirs they may have will take their place as a devil. Pandora uses her power of "Terror Puppetry" within this pact; as long as someone agrees to be in a pact with her, she can control their body if she needs, and if they try to go against her or her orders, they'll be sent into an ever-increasing panic until they give up the idea. The pact is unbreakable.

FROZEN☆ROΔDKILL: A "gang" known for making trouble but not actually doing anything truly illegal, just being a general nuisance and living in a treehouse village. Though, because of them founding Lace Village and boosting the economy of the Wind Kingdom, they're fairly welcome. Their leader, and by extension, mayor, is Praxis Megalos. Every time they try to commit a crime, it ends up going comedically wrong and becoming a perfectly legal act instead.
